John Tyson Elementary EAST students worked with local author, David Todd, last spring. They wanted to learn how to create and publish an e-book about recycling (their project was in conjunction with the plastic recycling program that some of their fellow EASTies started last year).
Mr. Todd taught them the steps in creating an e-book. When they asked if there was anything they could do to help him, he asked if they would be beta readers for his newest book. Their parents granted permission, and they agreed to be his beta readers and he also allowed them to select the artwork for the book's cover.
As a token of appreciation, Mr. Todd dedicated his book to them. Mr. Todd visited John Tyson Elementary School on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 to meet the students in person for the first time. He presented them with signed copies of his book, "There's No Such Thing As Time Travel."

Har-Ber High School aviation students viewed a helicopter up close thanks to a fly-in by Flyarh. A Robinson helicopter landed south of the school to demonstrate the components and flying characteristics of the aircraft to the new aviation students. #SpringdaleFamily
Allie Shanks is a junior at Har-Ber High School where she is the Junior Vice President of National Honor Society, Vice President of Civic Consciousness of DECA, a member of student council, and Junior Class Council. She is also a United Network for Organ Sharing Ambassador, volunteer for the American Heart Association, and volunteer for Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Association and Give Organs, Give Life.
Throughout this year, Allie will promote her personal platform, “Go Heart Yourself”, which expresses the importance of taking care of your overall well being, with a focus on heart health. By working hand and hand with the American Heart Association, she hopes to raise awareness of heart disease.

Welcome to the #SpringdaleFamily! | John Steele Cooper began August 29, 2022 as the Springdale Public Schools assistant communications director.
Steele Cooper comes to the district after serving for four years as the managing producer of video production at the University of Arkansas.
“I hope to bring my years of experience in video production and apply them to the Communications department, as well as my experience working in higher education communications leadership and content creation,” Steele Cooper said.
