Westwood Elementary School featured a Champions for Kids “Dragons and Friends” Reading Challenge kickoff today for the school’s 84 fourth graders! Westwood is one of seven Springdale schools participating in the challenge, which will award every participating student who reads at least 10 hours a prize box. The top three readers at each school will win a hoverboard! #SpringdaleFamily

Shoutout to Abigail Farrell, J.O. Kelley EAST Teacher, the September 2024 Springdale Spotlight winner! The winning photo was captured during a macroinvertebrate identification event. Students from J.O. Kelly EAST collaborated with the Illinois River Watershed Partnership to study local streams. The EAST Students have been working with the IRWP since 2018, examining streams near Silent Grove Rd., and researching habitat, macroinvertebrates, and land use. The October Springdale Spotlight winner will be announced on Oct. 23!
