CHRIS HARMON IS THE NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT LAKESIDE
The Springdale School Board and Dr. Jared Cleveland are proud to announce the hiring of Chris Harmon as the new assistant principal at Lakeside Junior High School.
Harmon is currently an instructional facilitator at Lakeside and taught ninth grade math for eight years prior to becoming an IF. He is replacing Kelly Koons, who is retiring after nine years at Lakeside and 40 years in education.
“I want to thank Dr. Cleveland, the School Board and the rest of the district leadership team for giving me this opportunity to serve as an assistant principal at Lakeside Junior High School," Harmon said. "I have been with Lakeside for nine years as a teacher, coach and instructional facilitator, and I am excited to serve in this new capacity. I am a believer in what Lakeside is doing in growing students in the skills necessary to be successful in both school and in life after school. I look forward to continuing to make an impact on Lakeside in this new role.”
Harmon began his career in Springdale as a substitute and has grown into a gifted instructional leader, said Cleveland, Springdale Schools superintendent.
"Mr. Harmon’s instructional ability, willingness to grow and excellent example of character of servant leadership led the interview team to unanimously recommend Mr. Harmon," Cleveland said. "I am grateful for his dedication to the students and staff of Lakeside and his loyalty to Springdale.”
Dr. Michael Shepherd, Lakeside principal, said he is thrilled to have Harmon on board at the school.
“Chris understands Lakeside like very few people can because of his longevity here, and his work with our students and staff," Shepherd said. "He is an incredible instructional leader, and we look forward to his transition into building-level leadership.”
Harmon grew up in Fort Smith and attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned his BSE in secondary mathematics. He earned his MAT in education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and an MSE in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. He is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
