Katie Jenkins Captured the Spirit of Service and Innovation at Shaw Elementary
There’s something truly special about seeing our students use their hands and hearts to help others, and even more special when we have educators dedicated to making sure those moments don't go unnoticed.
This month, we are beyond thrilled to announce that Katie Jenkins is our February 2026 Springdale Spotlight winner!
A Project with Purpose
The winning moment came from Katie’s fantastic photo highlighting a heart-warming EAST project at Shaw Elementary. Students Raelyn and Kendall have been busy at their sewing machines, but they aren't just making crafts—they’re solving problems.
The duo created clever toiletry holders sewn directly from washcloths. These kits are designed to be distributed whenever someone in our school family needs hygiene supplies. The best part? Once the toiletries are used, the holder can be used as a functional washcloth!
It’s creative, it’s practical, and as Katie perfectly captured, it is the true embodiment of the #SpringdaleFamily spirit. This is exactly what EAST is all about: using technology and teamwork to make a real-world difference.
