The Don Tyson School of Innovation (DTSOI) Middle School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. John Vinzant, has been selected as one of only two junior high honor bands for the entire state of Arkansas. This distinguished achievement recognizes the ensemble as one of the top middle school bands in the state.
The selection process involved a rigorous evaluation of submitted recordings from bands and orchestras across Arkansas. A panel of three out-of-state adjudicators meticulously reviewed each submission, ultimately bestowing the honor upon the DTSOI Symphonic Band. This recognition as an ASBOA Honor Ensemble is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and musical excellence of Mr. Vinzant and his students.
The award culminates in a performance at the Arkansas Music Conference, scheduled for Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Hot Springs Convention Center. This performance will showcase the exceptional talent and musicianship of the DTSOI Middle School Symphonic Band on a statewide platform.
This honor underscores the commitment to artistic excellence within the Springdale Public Schools and the exceptional leadership of Mr. Vinzant. It serves as a significant achievement for the students, the band program, and the entire Don Tyson School of Innovation community.
Please join in congratulating Mr. Vinzant and the members of the Don Tyson School of Innovation Middle School Symphonic Band on this outstanding accomplishment. For those wishing to extend their congratulations, Mr. Vinzant can be reached directly at jvinzant@sdale.org.
