Aurelian Sennett, who has served as an instructional facilitator at the Don Tyson School of Innovation, has been named assistant principal at the Don Tyson School of Innovation. He replaces Kelly Boortz, who was elevated to principal at the school.

“I would like to thank Dr. (Superintendent Jim) Rollins and the school board for this appointment as well as Mrs. (Shannon) Tisher, Mrs. (Kelly) Boortz, Mr. (Damon) Donnell, and Mrs. (Amy) Harrison for their guidance and mentoring over this past year,” Sennett said. “In addition, I’d like to thank the students, parents, staff, and community members and partners for the privilege of working at Don Tyson School of Innovation. It has truly been an amazing and awe-inspiring experience to serve our students, our staff, and our school.”

Sennett earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Plant, Insect and Microbial Sciences from the University of Missouri as well as a master’s degree in Secondary Education for Teaching Curriculum and Learning. He will complete his Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership by the end of the summer.

“Mr. Sennett’s current role at the school has allowed him to grow immensely in the teaching and learning process,” Rollins said. “His awareness of the strengths of the team and the growth areas of the team will serve him well in helping guide the continuing growth of the students and staff overall. It is a privilege to welcome Mr. Sennett is his new role of service as assistant principal of the School of Innovation.”
